NBC’s “Heroes” has revealed that the speedy Daphne has Cerebral Palsy. Quite unexpected! What are your thoughts on their portrayal of someone with this kind of disability? I haven’t watched the most recent episode yet, so I don’t feel I can give a qualified opinion.
I WILL say though that she looks REALLY akward in those crutches! (the AB actress that is)

I used crutches for many years when I used braces,it takes time to be good, but when I tried a different type of crutch,I to was awkard,I was really good with fore arm crutches but very clumsy with under arm,but dosn’t really matter anymore now tthat I use a chair full time.
I feel like I can manage with braces fairly normally, but based on people’s reactions, I must still look a bit like this too.
About 6 months ago, I was going to a doctor’s office in a hospital building and a nurse stopped me and insisted “_please_ let me get you a wheelchair.” For some reason she wouldn’t let it go, and I was a bit shaken and unusually self-conscious afterward.
Shouldn’t those crutches be a lot taller for her, so she doesn’t do this tripod thing but stand up a bit straighter?
There was an interview with an actor with CP (irl, and in the series) on the Ouch podcast a while back (the guy who plays the son on Breaking Bad) who said something like ‘just when he learned to walk without all that stuff, he had to crip it up again for TV’. Guess it’s a case of “the worse the better” and by the looks of this preferably “quite obvious and slightly awkward” as well when it comes to TV?
