Here she is! Ms. Wheelchair America 2011 was crowned Saturday night and the title goes to 22 year old Alexandra McArthur, a lovely young woman with Muscular Dystrophy. Diagnosed as a child, she’s been using a wheelchair for 3 years now, and is still getting used to the “wheelchair image.”
Alex was Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina (I’m sure Ms. Wheelchair 2010 Erika Bogan was tickled pink to pass on her crown to a fellow North Carolinan). An employee at Davidson College, her winning platform focused on employment and improving the workplace for people with disabilities. Read a full interview with Alex on winning, her reaction, and more, here.
Congrats Alexandra! Work that tiara and have a fabulous year!
