Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Programming
My PCA’s are back, the holidays are over, school is back in session… 2009 has officially begun. I am so glad things are back to normal. Things in the disability world are pretty quiet right now, so not much to blog about these days. The only news I can think of: – Johnson & Johnson announced they will no longer be selling the iBot in the USA this year (low sales. bummer). – States across the nation are facing budget deficits and looking to cut programs (with disabled people crossing their fingers that the cuts won’t dramatically affect them). – And people everywhere rooting for stem-cell research are waiting with bated breath,…

What Do You Appreciate More…Now?
How has your disability influenced you in such a way, that you appreciate certain things more than “everyone else?” It’s funny. For me – over all these crazy years of having a SCI – “The Little Things Tiff Appreciates” list has grown exponentially. Here are mine: – A hot cup of coffee WITH creamer (ok, maybe everyone loves this one, but it had to be said). – Sunshine. Even those blessed 30 seconds when the clouds shift, and the sun shines on my face for a moment in time, as I drive down the freeway and like magic, I warm up, can be orgasmic. – “Fresh scent” oil candles by…

“Crappy” Food That Should Be Brought Back
Case in point Numero Uno: McDonald’s FRIED Apple Pie (and the Fried Cherry Pie, RIP). Screw the wussy-girl Baked Apple Pie they’ve been pimping since 1992. I want me some fried tasty outer-shell, heart-attack inducing goodness. And why in the FRECK did such a genius corporation get rid of perhaps the best fast-food desert in the history of food in the first place? Was it to create easier prep or prevention of lawsuits due to magma-hot filling flying in your face? Trans-fat/MSG being the reasons, I really don’t care… Apparently (heard on the Internet grapevine), the tasty-schmasty fried apple pie can be found at McDonalds stores loacted in Walmarts (in various…

Save the Ta-Tas!
With it being officially October 1st today, it’s your public duty – male or female – to know that October is breast cancer awareness month. This means if you’re a female 40 years old or older, you need to get a yearly mammogram. I know, getting your ta-tas squeezed like a pancake in a clear plexiglass torture device isn’t something one necessarily looks forward to, but it’s necessary. For if you catch breast cancer early, it’s 98% cureable! As breast cancer survivor Cheryl Crow says, “Get a mammy, win a Grammy!” To show your support, buy a “Save the Ta-Tas” tee at this most awesome site: SavetheTatas.com .

As A Quad With Paralyzed Hands, THIS Following Website Meets My Music Lovin’ Needs…
If you’ve never heard of Pandora.com you’re really missing out. I don’t work them, heck, I wasn’t even introduced to them by a web ad. I googled “internet radio” one day while bored at work and stumbled upon it. Little did I know what I was in for when I loaded this seemingly “blah” website… Pandora.com was founded by Tom Westergen and The Music Genome Project (a group of music lovers, who in 2000 began organizing every song that’s ever been professionally recorded into a free online music database; creating the smartest virtual DJ ever). The site makes accessing music so easy and for me (a C6 quad with paralyzed…
