What’s It Like To Be Paralyzed

Wanna know? Really, really?

Ok, well here you go, the best way EVER to describe it:

Try to move your hair, as you would your arms, your fingers, your legs. See how it does absolutely nothing and is unresponsive? Well, that my friends, is what it’s like when a part of your body becomes paralyzed after a spinal injury.

It just stops listening. Like you and a best friend got in a fight and are now ignoring each other.

As you can guess, it’s immensely frustrating to have that ability siphoned away from you. Walking, moving, makes life SO much easier.

A cure can happen, folks, and is closer than you think! Believe and most importantly, donate!

    its true!

  2. HI TIFF, HERE IS ANOTHER WAY TO DECRIBE WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE PARALYZED. EXTEND YOUR RING FINGER OUT AND BEND THE REST OF THEM DOWN TO YOUR PALM. THEN PUT YOUR HAND ON A FLAT SERVICE AND PUSH DOWN ON YOUR HAND. WHILE YOU ARE DOING THAT, TRY TO LIFT YOUR RING FINGER. YOU CAN’T AND THAT IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO BE PARALYZED, MOVEMENT WISE ANYWAY

  3. jackie, yeah that’s a good one too. i believe i once read that on my friend, aaron baker’s site.

  4. I had polio when I was 8, so here goes…

You can experience what it’s like to be paralyzed this way. (1) Find a balance beam. (2) walk back and forth for 15-20 minutes. (3) At some point, you will turn and want to move forward, but your body won’t do it. You stand there… paralyzed. The mind is willing, the body says no.

  5. I’ve got to write an essay called; ‘Trapped’ in my English GCSE and I’m doing it form the viewpoint of a paralysed person, what metaphors etc. can I use to describe the person’s feelings’
