Where’s the Power Wheelchair Art?
There is an amazing trend going on in the wheelchair world right now – the crocheted wheel covers being made by Dutch designer Simeli.nl. These are fantastic and beautiful in every way. They make me want to take my old manual chair out of storage, dust it off, and buy a pair. Sadly however, I’ve been a full-time power wheelchair-user for years and these lovely wheel covers won’t work on my spoke-less wheels. Power wheelchairs get no love. Perfectly wheeled wedding in Palm Springs
I see a lot of awesome wheelchair wedding pics online all the time, in my line of work, from my thousands of wheeled friends n FB and on Pinterest, but recently a photoset of a wedding/reception really impressed me. Jana and Cory (married for nearly 2 years now) got married at the fab retro hotel, the Ace Hotel, in the just a fabulously retro location Palm Springs, Cali. Meet SPINALpedia's SCI Superstar this week - founder of ALTER UR EGO, Heidi McKenzie! A T4 paraplegic since 2007, this former fashion design student recently returned to fashion and just started her own adaptive clothing label. Starting with jeans, she has plans to create an entire clothing line.

SCI Superstar: Anna Turney
Meet SPINALpedia's fabulous SCI Superstar this week - Anna Turney! This 35 year old Brit was a competitive snowboarder, injured in 2006 while in Japan. But Anna has been able to battle post-injury depression and move on to do great things, including become a Paralympic skier and motivational speaker, as well a mentor to youth with the prestigious Dame Kelly Holmes Trust. SCI Superstar: Michael Graves
SPINALpedia's SCI Superstar the legendary architect Michael Graves. Michael sadly passed away last week of natural causes. He designed world-renowned buildings through the '70s, '80s and '90s before his injury, and after his injury he designed kitchen products for Target and taught design at Princeton. He was 80 years old.
