In episode #84 of No Free Rides, Tiffiny interviews Joe Stone, a C7 quad injured while speed flying in Montana (where you parachute down a mountain on foot). Tiffiny and Joe discuss the importance of staying true to your passions despite a life-changing injury, as well as his documentary, Wings to Wheels.
Joe is an amazing guy from West St. Paul, Minnesota. After his injury in August 2010, he returned to the scene of his accident to reclaim it by completing a 105 mile handcycle trek on Glacier National Park’s “50 mile Into the Sun Road.” He also proposed to his girlfriend upon returning, which you just gotta love.
Joe also talks about his new non-profit, Project Life Flight, which has a mission to purchase expensive outdoor adapted equipment for people with disabilities, and he shares how staying on top of his nutrition the first 1 1/2 years after his injury made all the difference.
Tiffiny also discusses the importance of staying true to your passions after an injury, even when it seems impossible.
